Better Understanding of the Brain is Shaping How We Heal Our Mind

A better understanding of how our brains reorganize information is shaping how we heal our minds.

This article is a little lengthy but shares the latest advanced meditation research from notable institutions including Harvard and Brown University.

“We identified distinctive patterns of brain activity in the cortex, subcortex, brain stem and cerebellum regions that were active during [advanced meditation].”

“This domain of meditation has the potential to massively reduce or otherwise alter narrative and self-referential thinking, improve attention, and foster feelings of self-generated joy…”

Access to these types of thought patterns traditionally require a lot of practice but this research is suggesting there are more immediate mechanisms for inducing states of calm and neuroplasticity.

From our work at DeepWell DTx I believe video games balanced to bring players into the moment and provide positive rewards and long term achievement potential could produce a similar or complementary effect. So much more to know, but exciting times as this research converges.
